How do electric bikes work?E-bikes run on an electric motor that draws power from the lithium ion battery pack. Most electric bikes can be propelled forward by manually pedaling using various levels of power asisst, using the throttle in addition to pedaling, or using just the throttle. Each Scout Electric Bike has all three modes built in.
-
What's the difference between Pedal Asisst and Throttle control? The pedal-assist mode works in tandem with the electric motor to give you a boost. Under PAS mode, there are 5 speed levels, level 1 is the slowest and 5 is the fastest. The top speed is limited by rider. When using throttle mode, just twist the throttle and you can go up to 30km/h without pedaling. The throttle only mode works like the throttle on a moped or motorcycle. You can hum along or quickly pick up speed using only the electric engine.
-
How far can I travel on a single charge? There are many variables including terrain, speed, rider build and size of motor/battery, however you can expect anywhere up to approx 50km. If you're lighter you will likely achieve the higher part of that range. We've tested our bikes many times to give you an accurate real world range. Our typical rider gets in the 25 - 55 km range
-

Scout ebikes are fitted with powerful hydraulic disc brakes front and rear that allow you to slow down safely and stop. Please follow all normal safety precautions that you would follow with a normal bicycle, always wear a helmet and adhere to the rules of the road.

There is a convenient charge input on the base of the tank which plugs into a standard 240V outlet.
-
How long does the battery take to charge?4 - 6 hours
-
How long until the battery needs to be replaced? With proper care, the batteries can last approximately 800 -1000 full cycles. As with other lithium-ion batteries, they hold less charge over time. Just think of the electric bike battery like a car battery. Different chemistry same concept. Should be replaced every once in a while.
-
Can I charge the battery through a normal wall outlet?Yes, your included adaptor connects to a normal 240V wall outlet.
-
What if I run out of battery?Three options. 1. Try not to run out. 2. Plan your trip so you have at least half a charge to get you home. 3. Pedal just like a regular bike
